Nova Braidz braiding extensions are manufactured using PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
fibers rather than PVC-based materials.
Our testing also screened for vinyl chloride, a chemical associated with PVC production, and the
tested sample met the applicable testing requirements.

Independent third-party testing helps identify whether certain substances are present in the
tested sample and whether the sample meets established testing requirements for those
substances.
Our testing focused on several categories of chemicals that consumers commonly ask about,
including heavy metals, phthalates, flame retardants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs),
formaldehyde, and vinyl chloride.

Heavy Metals

Heavy metals such as lead and cadmium are substances that consumers often look for when
evaluating product safety.
The Nova Braidz sample passed testing requirements for both lead and cadmium.

Phthalates

Phthalates are chemicals sometimes used to make plastics more flexible.

The Nova Braidz sample passed testing for the regulated phthalates included in the testing
panel.

Flame Retardants

Understanding Our Test Results

What Does "Pass" Mean?

A "Pass" result means the tested sample met the applicable testing requirements or limits for
the substances included in the testing panel.
A passing result indicates that the tested substance was either not detected or was found at
levels below the applicable testing threshold.

What Does "ND" Mean?

ND stands for Not Detected.
This means the laboratory did not detect the substance in the tested sample above the
laboratory's method detection limit.

What Is a Detection Limit?

Laboratory instruments have minimum levels they can reliably measure.
The Method Detection Limit (MDL) is the lowest concentration that can be confidently identified
by the testing method.

When a result is reported as ND, it means the substance was not detected above that detection
limit.

What Is Trace Detection?

A trace detection refers to an extremely small amount of a substance that may be identified
during testing.
Modern laboratory instruments are capable of detecting substances at very low levels, often
measured in parts per million (ppm) or even lower.

Does Trace Detection Automatically Mean a Health Risk?

No.
The detection of a substance does not automatically indicate a health risk.
The presence of a substance must be evaluated in context, including:

 Scientific and toxicological assessments
Many naturally occurring and everyday substances can be detected at trace levels without
